Today we had our “We are tourists” day.If you have never felt like a Tourist before in your whole lifeyou should definitely go to New York and take the ferry to liberty island to see the statue and then making your way through fully crowded downtown to take an elevator up the Empire State Building, and all this on a Saturday.-and then you know exactly how this feels.
And in this blog entry I just wanted to write something about how funny such a “We are tourists” day can be. And how many other tourists there are and that there are people who are playing your national hymn on their steel drums, and that there are so many people with such big lenses for their digital cameras, and that people who are using such big lenses have small wieners and that the americans favourite thing is the zig-zag waiting line, and that you have to go through “airport-like-security-procedure” everytime before going to liberty island or the empire state building, and that everybody who goes there has to take a photo in front of a greenscreen, before he can enter an elevator and then they are trying to seel this “you and the building” prints to you when you want to leave the building, and that jety and I of course bought this overexpensive tourist souvenir shit and that … arrgh.. but I am too tired for this now.
All I wanted to say is: I think we did a great job in being tourists. And we are happy that we are laying in our beds now, and that the next days won’t be like this one.If I would have had mobile internet I would have twittered something like this today:#I don’t know how many gallons of Snapple Iced tea you can drink in a day, but I think I am getting close to the average us citizen.#Can someone look after jety? I have this feeling that he misunderstood the meaning of restroom. /waiting for hours.#This City is very unsalted.#Snapple: “Made from the best stuff on earth” /Sugarwater# ohmeingott! frittierte Hähnchenteile! überall!
